Bacup Credit Union aims to provide an easily accessible service, offering members safe savings facilities and loans at favourable rates of interest, whilst continuing to promote financial education and encourage good savings habits.

The Credit Union Story

The modern Credit Union movement traces its origins to Germany and to a Mayor who in 1849 formed societies which later evolved into Credit Unions. The purpose of these Credit Unions was to enable people to help themselves in relieving debt and poverty.

Credit union set up 1991 by the fellowship of churches some of the original members are still with us.
